Everyone has a unique story to tell. Stories that are worth sharing to inspire others. Stories which will bespeak lessons to others lives.

Let me take this opportunity to share with you some chapters of my life and why I ended up supporting myself. My parents parted when I was a year old and since then, my maternal grandmother took care of me and my three siblings.

I grew up believing that everything happens for a reason that things happen not because it’s a punishment from God but it’s because He wants to instil in us lessons that will help us become better individuals. At an early age I hitched my wagon to a star.

I attended a public elementary school and graduated with Honors. My older sister supported me throughout high school up to my first year in college. I wasn’t able to finish my first year due to financial disabilities. So, I told myself I need to find a job in Manila. To get the show on the road I started to apply for jobs.

It was 6 years ago when I first set foot in Manila, like a lost ball among the high weeds trying to cope with changes since I grew up in the province. Gradually, I was able to embrace these changes.

Luckily, I landed a career in a BPO company in Ortigas. After 2 years of continuous work I decided to pursue my desire to become a Certified Public Accountant. Currently, I’m on my 3rd year pursuing my Bachelors of Science in Accounting at Jose Rizal University.

My daily routine starts by going to school at 3pm for my first class until my last one at 9pm. After I’m done with all my classes I have to get ready for work at Centro for my 10pm shift and spend the rest of the day in the office up until 7 in the morning.

To be a working student you have to be prudent especially when it comes to time management. You have to know your priorities, you have to know your goals and set aside anything that distracts you.

To be the only one in the family to have a college degree and to be able to give back to my family, in one way or another, is what motivates me to study and work hard. This is what made me who I am today. I’m full of hope that someday, somehow, in God’s perfect timing, I will be able to achieve my dreams and aspirations in life.
