Growing up, I experienced a lot of discrimination, especially during the time that we didn’t have any source of income. During my 4th year in high school, my father was out of a job and I had to support my family even though I was only 17.

I took a job as a cashier at a VHS rental for a year, but I had to look for a better job.  Unfortunately, because of my educational attainment, it was really hard to find a suitable job.  Most of the companies I applied to rejected me, but despite all the challenges, I never gave up and never stopped dreaming. I realized that in order to become successful in life, all you need is experience, determination, inspiration, faith, and trust. Life is like a wheel, sometimes you’re at the bottom, sometimes at the top. Bottom line though, life must go on and you need to take risks and challenge yourself to be a better person and succeed.

I never thought that one day I would be working as a call center agent. God is good because He sent me a person who helped me be a part of this industry. He advised me to take a technical course as a Graphic Artist. After completing my course in May 2012, I started applying in different BPO companies, and luckily I got hired.

I started working at Centro Manila as a Sales Representative in April 2016. I became a Top Performer last July 2017, and I’m proud to say that I’m still working in Centro for almost 2 years now. I’m thankful that Centro accepted me for who I am and what I made out of myself. Now after almost 8 years of professional experience, I am able to support my family and we’re almost done building our own house with the help of my other siblings. I also invested in a networking company to start my own business one day.  And I thank God for all the wonders and blessings that He gave me and my family.

One thing I learned throughout my journey is “Always expect the unexpected.” My advice to you would be to remain humble despite your achievements, and always remember that it’s never too late to achieve your goals in life.
