It all began when I left a contact center company that I used to work for in 2012 due to an account closure after working there for 5 years. The timing was horrible, as I had just gotten married 45 days earlier, and was in huge debt.

The only 2 jobs available at that time, were at another company or an agent at Centro. I wanted Centro, since a lot of my friends were there and the money was great, and I knew I could pay off my debts.  But, since I was afraid, I decided to accept both jobs.  I worked during the day for the other company and night-shifts at Centro for 2 weeks till I hit the phone and started seeing it!

I started concentrating on getting more Clients to get more money which helped me to get up on my feet again. After 9 months I started to look for a different position, since I had 7 years of experience in different call center positions. I knew I had to utilize this experience.

I got an offer in the UAE and at the same time applied for Facilities Coordinator at Centro. I saw a lot of potential in Centro and a lot of opportunities in the Facilities Department back then.  Fortunately, I was accepted as the first Facilities Coordinator in the company, and I was able to unleash all my experience, knowledge and everything I have ever seen in any pervious call center jobs. Management backed me up and gave me the space to act and were welcoming to my ideas with great support. My work spoke out loud, which got me promoted to Facilities Manager across all the 3 sites.

The point is, that I have learned that there will always be shiny golden chances that will appear en route. You have to pause and look closely, because they could distract you away from the treasure awaiting you, just a couple of steps from your feet.  Although I have learnt a lot in other call centers, however my work in Centro was the missing piece of the puzzle. Centro showed me how to be able to drive performance while being people oriented, how to believe in employees, how to let them innovate and shine…simply how to be a great manager!
