Perseverance is about pursuing a higher goal and developing an ability to deal with setbacks and failure on the way. Persevering is a combination of mindset and habit. Mechanically it’s about having the stamina to actually keep going and doing the right things. Mentally it’s about knowing where to go and how to deal with setbacks in the right manner.

In 2009 I was struck with the news that I had a brain hemorrhage and instantly had to undergo surgery, which made me end up totally paralyzed. I couldn’t move, talk…nothing! I was only breathing. I decided to undergo physical therapy, hydro therapy, occupational therapy and all sorts of exercises that could eventually be a glimpse of hope to make me lead a normal life. After 6 months, I saw great improvement in my health and my situation.

I was still in college and pursued my education along with building myself a career. I worked as a call center agent, became a videographer and started my own company. As I was graduating, I decided I wanted to get a Master’s Degree in Psychology, since my dream was to one day become a Psychiatrist.

I came across Centro, and I wanted to work there so bad. So, I applied there 3 times, but I kept getting rejected. This did not stop me, it pushed me to try harder and never quit. I knew I had everything Centro needed to get the work done, efficiently. Today, I’m a proud Centroee, semi-paralyzed, working with one hand, one eye and a lot of health issues. BUT, I’m a Top Performer, achieved 96% of my KPIs, working on my first novel to be published and running my own private business.

Paralysis is a mindset, not a physical disability. And I truly believe that perseverance is about setting the right goal and having the right mindset to achieve it. Perseverance alone will not make you successful, but without it you will never get anywhere, and with it you can go further than most people.
